Internet Marketing Fails Most 5 Reasons Why

Internet marketers like 95 percent of start up businesses fail and we visit 5 reasons why.

Internet marketing is a wonderful thing but, why do so many businesses and people fail. Here are the 5 reasons:

1) Falling in love with a domain name.

A domain name needs to serve one of two (both is better) purposes either it reflects a common phase people search for or is very unique and easy to remember. An easy example would be MLM and affiliate domain names. How many of these have you seen and more important is the domain name easy to remember? If you absolutely love a domain name purchase multiple domain names and market them both. you can get low priced domain names or you can go to and get a free one. Both of these will enable you to mask and forward your affiliate or MLM domain name to protect commissions.

2) Spending to much time and money marketing to people not interested in your product or service.

Targeting people interested in your products and services is a must. If you belong to MySpace or another popular social network you probably have an idea of people or businesses with unsolicited comments or messages. Chances are that a person will not be interested in your product or service so why bother. A simple time saving way around posting tons of unsolicited material is to write a blog or an article. Find your target audience and market to them your chances of a sell will increase significantly.

3) Spending to much time trying to convince people to buy a product or service.

Testimonials are wonderful, ask current clients of your product or service for a testimonial. If you need to give a freebie or discount it may be well worth it, however most are happy to provide or refer new clients to you. Using testimonials is an easy way to have other people help sell your product or service.

4) Not submitting or getting your website indexed into at least the top 4 search engines.

Getting indexed into the top four search engines is a must Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask will account for 95% of your search engine traffic. is a free place to submit to 20 search engines including Google. They also provide links for manual submission to the top 50 search engines or directories.

5) Having Google adsense compete with your product or service.

Lots of people do not think about this but, adsense systematically targets ads based on content. If you are trying to sell a product or service why give competitors direct access to your potential client. Would you allow a competitor to sell products or services in a store you own? Essentially adsense is the same thing allowing competitors in your store to sell their products.

Marketing on the internet can significantly increase your business if done properly. The reasons listed are all steps that if avoided or done will help you on a path to a successful internet marketing campaign. Remember failing is not a bad thing as long as you learn and correct issues. Many successful people and businesses can demonstrate this time and time again. Will you learn from both success and failure internet marketing like all businesses ultimately depend on both.
